CONCORD, N.C. (AP) — Kyle Busch recovered from an early spin to pass Clint Bowyer with seven laps to go and pulled away to win his third consecutive Trucks Series race on Friday night.
Hours after capturing the pole for Saturday's All-Star race, Busch outdueled a fellow Sprint Cup regular down the stretch to secure his second straight Trucks win at Charlotte Motor Speedway, his fourth Trucks win of the year, and his 97th victory in NASCAR's top three circuits.
Rookie Cole Whitt finished third in the wreck-filled race and took over the points lead.
Former Formula One champion Kimi Raikkonen's NASCAR debut ended with a respectable 15th-place finish despite a couple of scrapes with the wall in the No. 15 Toyota for Kyle Busch Motorsports.
