(HARVEY COUNTY, Kan.) — A medical helicopter makes a crash landing in Harvey County Thursday afternoon.
The pilot and mechanic were conducting a routine check of the Life Team helicopter when it developed mechanical problems.
The crew tried to glide the helicopter to a wheat field but crash landed just after three o'clock. The crash site is about 10 miles northeast of Newton.
The helicopter flipped, ripping off the tail. The crew has minor injuries.
Paramedics took them to Newton Medical Center.The Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton expects the two to be released soon. Their names have not been released.
There were no patients on-board. The FAA and NTSB are on the scene or en-route to the site to begin the investigation.
Life Team is based in Newton. It provides transport for critically ill or injured patients across Kansas.
