{WICHITA, Kan.} — Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open Tournament Director Roy Turner today announced that Woody Austin will be competing in this year’s Nationwide Tour event to be played once again at Crestview Country Club June 16-19.
“We are thrilled to have a player of Woody Austin’s stature in this year's field," said Turner. "Over the years he has enhanced Wichita’s reputation to professional golf and the entire state of Kansas. We look forward to having Woody compete at Crestview next week against all the terrifiic players on the Nationwide Tour."
Austin is no stranger to Wichita. He currently resides in Derby, KS and has participated in the Wichita Open three times - in 1990, 1994, and 1998.
The 47-year-old has been a full time member of the PGA TOUR every year since 1995 with the exception of 1998, collecting three wins and more than $15 million in earnings. In 2007, he was a member of the victorious U.S. Presidents Cup team in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Austin played the Nationwide Tour full time in 1994 and 1998, recording three runners-up and three third-place finishes.
