Police arrest Andover man on suspicion of child abuse

(ANDOVER, Kan.) — Andover police arrest a 25-year-old man for child abuse.

Chief Michael Keller says a call of the abuse was placed to 911 around 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon. When police arrived in at a mobile home in the 900 block of E. Highway US-54, they found a 2-month old girl unresponsive, with bruises on her face.

She was taken to Via Christi on St. Francis is serious condition.

On Monday, the child's father was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of child abuse. It is unknown if official charges have been filed.

Keller says the infant's condition has since improved, but she remains in protective custody.

The investigation surrounding the child abuse continues.
