Original Story, June 14

A McPherson County grandmother is in custody suspected of robbing at least four banks at gunpoint.

51-year-old Vicki L. Arce was charged Monday in Harvey County with aggravated robbery for a hold-up Thursday at a Newton bank.

She is suspected in an attempted robbery in McPherson the same day, and previous bank robberies in Hutchinson and South Hutch.

“I was shocked…this is not the sister I know,” says Carol Alvord, Arce’s sister.

“She had to be facing something bad or desperate,” says Alvord who hasn’t talked to her sister since the arrest.

The U.S. Attorney's Office is expected to file several federal charges against Arce.
Her bond was set at $200,000.
