Sometimes, you just got to take your finish and run. Clint Bowyer would probably be the first person to admit that he probably didn't really have the best car at Michigan on Sunday. But he brought it in 8th and that is what we call in the race would a good points day.
"What a tough day. It just feels like our chassis package is a bit off from the body package on this car," said Bowyer. "Shane Wilson (crew chief) made some good calls on pit road to put us in position to get a top-10 finish. To finish eighth after the way the car handled throughout the race is an accomplishment."
Now comes the challenge as NASCAR heads to the first of two road courses of the season; Infineon Raceway. But would it surprise you to know that Clint is actually a pretty good road racer? It surprised me. Of his 5 races in Sonoma, Bowyer owns a pair of top fives and three top tens. Pretty good for a dirt racer from Kansas. That being said, Bowyer has struggled in recent road races finishing 31st at Infineon last season and 32nd Watkins Glen.
