(PHILLIPSBURG, Kan.) — An Almena man dies in a crash Wednesday morning in Phillips County just west of Phillipsburg.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 20-year-old Jacob Gallentine was driving east on U.S. 36 just after 7:00 a.m., when he traveled left of center and struck a mini-van head on. Gallentine's car came to rest on the south shoulder while the mini-van rolled into the north ditch.
Investigators say Gallentine was taken to a Phillipsburg hospital where he died. Two of the three people inside the mini-van were hurt. A 32-year-old woman was flown to a hospital in Kearny, Nebraska. A 29-year-old man was treated and released from a Phillipsburg hospital; a 10-year-old boy was not hurt.
Investigators say none of the accident victims were wearing seat belts.
