Storm Team 12: Calmer but a few storms too

June 23, 2011|By Meteorologist Mark Larson | Storm Team 12

After a sun-splashed Wednesday with gusty winds fairly typical June temperatures, look for more clouds and lighter winds Thursday. Under a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky, highs will climb into the mid-80s to low 90s and wind speeds of 20 mph or less Thursday afternoon.

Isolated storms will pass through southwest Kansas early Thursday followed by more scattered storms by late afternoon and through the night statewide. Friday will be partly to mostly cloudy with more storm chances by the evening and through the overnight hours.

More storms will be possible for parts of our area Saturday along with gusty southerly winds.

Once the storms move out, extreme heat will be building back into Kansas and the southern plains. We can expect dry weather and near triple-digit highs most of next week.
