(COMANCHE COUNTY, Kan.) — A man is dead, and a teenage girl is in serious condition, after a car crash Sunday in Comanche County.

The accident happened around 12:45 on U.S. 160 and County Road 4 north of Protection. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 45-year-old Monte Boyd Holler was driving a pick-up south on County Road 4, then left the road. Investigators say the pick-up crossed into the west ditch, then crossed into the east ditch and rolled.

Both Holler and a 14-year-old girl riding with him were thrown from the vehicle. Investigators say neither was wearing a seat belt. Holler was taken to a Comanche County hospital, the teen was flown to a Wichita hospital.
