183 violations during Rock Road traffic enforcement

(WICHITA, Kan.) —

The Wichita Police Department says there were 183 violations during a 24-hour traffic operation along Rock Road.

The third "Operation Impact" ran from 7:00 a.m. Wednesday to 7:00 a.m. Thursday along Rock Road from Bel Aire to Mulvane. Police say there were no accidents reported on Rock Road in the city of Wichita during the enforcement.

Here is a breakdown of the violations:

  • Safety Belt Citations: 4
  • Speeding Citations: 88
  • Felony arrests/warrants: 6
  • Stop Light/Sign Violations: 39
  • Passing Violations: 2
  • Drivers License Violations: 12
  • Registration Violations: 7
  • Window Tint: 2
  • Other Traffic Violations: 11
  • Defective Equipment Violations: 5
  • No Proof of Insurance: 7

Wichita Police, Sedgwick County Sheriff's Deputies, Bel Aire Police, Derby Police and Mulvane Police all participated in the operation.

Wichita police are stepping up traffic enforcement along Rock Road today.  The program, called "Operation Impact", will run from 7:00 a.m. Wednesday through 7:00 a.m. Thursday.

Wichita police, Sedgwick County Sheriff's deputies, and officers with Bel Aire, Derby and Mulvane's police departments will be up and down Rock Road enforcing traffic laws.

Officers will be on the lookout for red light runners, turn violations at intersections, speeding, seat-belt violations.

This is the third "Operation Impact" operation in recent months, the other two - which were along Kellogg and Broadway, netted 400 tickets each.
