(BELOIT,Kan) — A tight community of dirt track racers got behind the wheel Thursday night for a much bigger and more important purpose.

Thursday marked the second annual “Chad McDaniel Memorial Race” held at the Solomon Valley Raceway in Beloit.

McDaniel had racing in his blood according to his family. The Concordia native died in a race car accident a few years back in Iowa.

Dirt track drivers from all over the nation gathered to take part in Thursday’s memorial race...the Solomon Valley track was said to be Chad's favorite place to do what he loved most.

"I think of chad and all the good memories we had…he loved racing and it was something the family enjoyed together”, says Chad’s mother Dianna Powers.

"It’s not about the money it's all about coming out and supporting what Chad was about in the racing community”, added event coordinator Kenny Brown.

All the proceeds from the race were donated to the McDaniel family which includes Chad's wife and kids.
