Storm Team 12: Isolated storms

not quite as hot

August 03, 2011|By Meteorologist Rodney Price

Isolated showers and storms are developing around the area this evening.  Some hit and miss severe weather can't be completely ruled out over the next few hours, with wind and heavy rain the chief concerns. Our overnight lows will drop to the 60s in the far west, with 70s elsewhere.

A front will drift into far southern Kansas tomorrow afternoon.  Places like Medicine Lodge and Winfield will hit 100 degrees, while the readings will drop off the farther north you go.  We expect upper 90s in Wichita, middle 90s in central Kansas and middle 80s in the far northwest.  Look for some more isolated showers and storms tomorrow afternoon.

The threat for more storms loom in your Friday forecast too, as highs will be warmest in southern Kansas where readings near 100 degrees can be expected.

A weekend warm up is in store with a few storms in western Kansas.  The triple digits will be commonplace for southern Kansas, while 90s are found elsewhere.
