(WICHITA, Kan.) — Update: More than 2,000 Westar Energy customers are still without power in Sedgwick County as of 9:45 Friday morning.
The outages follow a severe storm that hit the Wichita area Wednesday night, bringing with it 70 mph winds.
Westar has said it may be Friday afternoon before everyone has their power back.

Update: At last check (around 10:00 a.m.) around 9,300 customers were without power in Sedgwick County.
Westar reports via Twitter that crews are working to restore power and remove downed tree limbs.

More than 13,000 people are without power in Sedgwick County tonight.
A severe thunderstorm moved through the area just before 10:00 on Wednesday, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.
Dispatchers confirm reports of flooded streets, power lines down and limbs down in Wichita. We also have reports of poles down in Pratt County and Sumner County.
Several intersections on Wichita's west side are impassible due to high water. We have crews heading to that area.
