SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Wichita Wingnuts beat the Sioux City Explorers 10-7 at Lewis and Clark Park on Sunday evening.
After falling behind 1-0 in the bottom of the first, the Wingnuts rattled off 10 unanswered runs to build a nine-run lead. The comeback started in the top of the second when Jorge Delgado and Josh Workman hit back-to-back singles with one out. Peter Barrows lined a single to center to tie the game, sending Workman to second. After Edwin Bellorin flied out to center, Jose Duran lined a single to right field that scored Workman with the go-ahead run. Duran's single bounced by Derek Schermerhorn, allowing Barrows to score from first with the Wingnuts' third run.
Bellorin led off the top of the fifth with a solo home run to left field, giving Wichita a 4-1 lead. Juan Richardson added an RBI single later in the inning, while Jorge Delgado capped off the frame with a sacrifice fly to right.
