Storm Team 12: Heat wave ends

August 08, 2011|By Meteorologist Mark Larson

A series of weather-makers will be passing through Kansas this week bringing us good chances for rain, passing storms and significant heat relief. All in all if you are heat weary the forecast looks good for you.

Monday we'll see mostly sunny skies west, clouds and a few scattered storms over the east. A few stronger storms could be packing wind gusts of 60-70 mph and large hail. Most of our area will see afternoon highs in the 80s and 90s however a few spots near the Oklahoma border will get close to 100 degrees.

Tuesday will bring even more moderation to the mercury along with more late day storms especially out west. Wednesday will likely be the 'least hot' day of the week with afternoon highs in the low to mid-80s for most.
