Butler County Emergency Medical Services announced Friday they have created a Butler County Public Responder Network (BCPR) and they’re making CPR training a top priority.
The BCPR network will offer free training for CPR and use of an Automated External Defibrillator. The training will also be offered to students at Butler County schools.
Cardiac Arrest that occurs out of the hospital affects 50,000-100,000 people per year. Unfortunately, only about 6% of people survive on average. One of the most important factors to whether a person survives is if a bystander provides CPR. Currently, very few Cardiac Arrest victims receive this
much-needed intervention.
The BCPR Network plans to hold multiple mass training sessions for the public, the first of which will be at Greater Andover Days on Saturday, Oct. 1st. The first session will be at 11:30 am, followed by two more session at 1:30pm and 3:30pm at the main stage.
People who attend a training session will receive a card, although it only indicates they are willing to provide Hands-only CPR and use an AED if its available if a fellow member of their community suddenly collapses. If a person needs official certification in CPR, the BCPR Network can also
help.
