Man wanted in Dodge City arrested in California

(DODGE CITY, Kan.) —

Dodge City Police say a man they were looking for in connection with a possible abduction surrendered to police in California.

In a news release, the Dodge City Police Chief says Ausberto Baez-Rivera surrendered to officers in Chowchilla, California, early Tuesday morning. It's the same place where his car was found Monday outside his mother's home.

Officials say the suspect is being held on a warrant out of Ford County. No word on when he will be sent back to Kansas.

Dodge City Police are asking for the publics help in finding a man wanted in a kidnapping.

On Saturday a warrant was issued for 20-year-old Ausberto Baez-Rivera. He's accused of kidnapping a woman from a home at 907 Ave. D in Dodge City. When the woman saw a police vehicle she was able to escape from Rivera and run to the officers. Rivera fled on foot and has not been found.

Authorities say Rivera should be considered armed and dangerous. You are asked to call police if you know of his whereabouts.

Rivera is described as being 6'3" tall, weighing 175 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. His vehicle is a 2000 Silver Ford Mustang with the Kansas plates of 794 CLR. He's wanted in Ford County for aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
