Laid-off workers center takes appointments for Sept. session

The United Way of the Plains is taking appointments for the September session of the Laid-Off Workers Center.

To set-up an appointment, call 211 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Aug. 22 through Aug. 26.

To qualify for help from the center, laid-off workers much have been laid-off and approved for unemployment since Oct. 1, 2008; show they have emergency financial needs and insufficient personal resource to provide food, clothing and shelter; been laid-off from a job in Sedgwick, Butler or Sumner Counties or lived in those counties at the time of the layoff.
