Storm Team 12: Hot and humid

August 28, 2011|By Meteorologist Dean Jones

A few clouds and light showers in south central Kansas this morning should diminish by mid morning.  Clouds will also give way to plenty of sunshine through the afternoon hours.  If you have outdoor activities planned today, the humidity will factor into the heat.  The heat index will approach 105 by afternoon.  Afternoon highs will range from the upper 90s in the northern half of the state to near 105 in southwest Kansas.

Another "cold" front will push into the state tonight, bringing storms chances late Sunday evening through Monday morning.  The strongest storms and most likely areas to see rainfall will be across the northern sections of the state.  This cold front will also knock down our temperatures a notch or two on Monday with highs forecast to be in the 80s to mid-90s.

The heat returns mid week for our next chance of adding to the 100 degree day summer total.
