Victims in deadly motorcycle crash identified

(WICHITA, Kan.) — The Kansas Highway Patrol has released the names of the woman killed and the man critically hurt in an overnight motorcycle crash.

Troopers say 19-year-old Mallory Scofield of Wichita was killed in the crash, 21-year-old Joshua Wynn was driving the motorcycle, he was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Neither was wearing a helmet.

A police chase overnight leads to a crash that left a woman dead and another person in critical condition.

It started near 27th Street South and Meridian.

Police say they were trying to make contact with a motorcycle rider, but he sped off into a neighborhood.  Police gave up after a short chase, but the chase resumed when the rider was spotted again on K-42 near Pawnee.

Speeds topped 100 miles per hour, and the pursuit was called off.  Five minutes later, a trooper with the Kansas Highway Patrol found the motorcycle crashed near 135th Street and Maple.

A 19-year-old woman from Wichita was thrown from the bike and died at the scene.  The other person is from Park City and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
