(SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan.) — A man is dead after a single vehicle accident in southeast Sedgwick County. The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, near the intersection of 47th St. S. and Greenwich.
According to Capt. George Mason with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department, the vehicle was headed westbound on 47th St. S. when it left the road, went into ditch, hit a driveway culvert and went airborne. The vehicle flew about a hundred feet, before landing and continuing another 300 feet into a tree line.
Mason tells Eyewitness News, a family of three from Rose Hill was in the vehicle. The driver, a woman in her 30s, and her mother, who was riding in the front seat of the vehicle, were taken to the hospital in serious condition. The woman's father was pinned in the backseat of the vehicle. He died en route to the hospital.
Investigators will remain on scene to reconstruct the accident.
