Spirt Aerosystems, SPEEA-WTPU to resume negotiations

September 08, 2011|By Robert Marin | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

(WICHITA, Kan.) — Main table negotiations are set to resume Thursday between Spirit Aerosystems and SPEEA's Wichita Technical and Professional Unit.

In July 96% over voting union members rejected an offer from Spirit. The two sides resumed negotiations in late August, with a federal mediator observing negotiations.

The union had presented a counter-proposal to the company, which is a three-year contract. Click the related links for a rundown of that offer from SPEEA and past stories on the contract debate.

The contract would cover nearly 2,300 employees at Spirit who are not managers or engineers. The current contract expired, but its terms are still covering workers while negotiations continue.
