(WICHITA, Kan.) — Some big changes are on the way for wichita's exploration place.
Officials announced today plans to refresh the flight pavilion, with help from local aviation companies as well as the National Center for Aviation Research and Center for Aviation Training.
The current gallery is 11 years old.
About a million dollars will be spent to rebuild the five thousand square foot pavilion.
Fund raising is already underway for the design phase.
Jan Luth of Exploration Place tells us, "The concept of this design is design, build, fly...'cause that's what we do in wichita...we design, we build and we fly. So we figure people will have a chance to test different materials and try different things in order to make a plane fly."
Luth expects the design phase to take six to 9 months, with the new pavilion opening in about two years.
