Storm Team 12: Warmer (and still dry) Sunday

October 01, 2011|By Meteorologist Rodney Price

Look for clear and cool conditions overnight as low temperatures will drop to the 40s statewide.

A warmer and sunny day is in the cards for Sunday, especially for the western half of the state.  The wind will be on the increase there as highs reach the middle to upper 80s to near 90 degrees.  When you combine that with the drought conditions in place and low relative humidity, the fire danger will be a big concern tomorrow afternoon.  For the eastern half of the state tomorrow, the wind won't be as brisk as highs warm to the lower 80s.

You'll see even more warmth across Kansas for the start of the work week.  Highs will reach the lower to middle 90s west with middle to upper 80s east.  Once again, abundant sunshine will be found across Kansas as a large area of upper level high pressure keeps the state cloud-free.

Temperatures will stay above normal this upcoming work week and the breeze won't take a break either.  Eventually, that south breeze will bring up a little moisture, especially by the end of the work week.  A slow-moving storm system should emerge out into Kansas by Friday or Saturday and bring at least a chance of some showers and even some storms to the Sunflower State.
