The wind has been very strong with gusts 60-70 mph over western Kansas Thursday afternoon. South winds are expected to stay gusty statewide overnight, and isolated showers and a few storms will be possible in western Kansas.
Friday will still be windy over much of the area with gusts 35-40 mph expected. The chance for rain will be limited to central and western Kansas, and some of the afternoon storms that develop on Friday may have some small hail and wind gusts to 60 mph.
Locally heavy rainfall is possible in western Kansas Friday night, before pushing into central and eastern Kansas on Saturday. Severe weather is not expected to be a big problem this weekend, but we will have to watch for some locally heavy rainfall Saturday. Temperatures will be trending cooler for Saturday and Sunday.
