(WICHITA, Kan.) — A driver is hurt following a brief police chase overnight near Towne West.
The chase started about 11:30 Wednesday night at Maple and Tracy. A Sedgwick County deputy tried to stop a driver in an SUV for a tag violation. Officials say the driver sped off, and crashed into a retaining wall a half mile later at Kellogg and Tracy. The driver then fled on foot across Kellogg.
About 45 minutes later, Sedgwick County deputies and Wichita police found the driver in the 4200 block of W. Irving. Deputies say he was unresponsive in a dumpster.
Paramedics transported him to a hospital in critical condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
