Storm Team 12: Freeze warning

October 19, 2011|By Meteorologist Ross Janssen

A hard freeze is expected in much of the state tonight with overnight lows dropping into the upper 20s.

High pressure will settle over the area tonight, allowing the winds to die down and the skies to remain clear. Because the air is so dry, temperatures will drop rapidly after sundown.

Frost will be widespread in the morning, but with sunny skies, temperatures will rebound into the mid and upper 50s for central Kansas during the afternoon. Low 60s should be expected in western Kansas.

Another chilly night is expected Thursday night, but the warming trend will start up on Friday, pushing temperatures into the low 70s just in time for the weekend.

The forecast through early next week will continue to be dry.
