Original Story, October 21

A para-educator, placed in Clearwater High School, has been arrested for unlawful sexual relations with a student. This is the second time last week that an allegation like this has been made against educators in the district.

Clearwater Superintendent Mike Roth confirms the suspect was working with special education students, grades nine through twelve, but was not an employee of the district.

Roth says she was placed in the high school by the Sedgwick County Area Educational Services Interlocal Cooperative in Goddard.

"These situations that we're dealing with are not anything that I would wish upon anybody, but most importantly, the thing that hurts me the most is that students were involved," said Roth.

Lt. Jeff Weible with the Exploited and Missing Children's Unit, says they received a tip on Wednesday that the suspect was having a sexual relationship with a 17 year-old, male student.

EMCU conducted interviews on Wednesday and Thursday, before booking the suspect in the Sedgwick County Jail.

She was arrested on two counts of unlawful sexual relations and two counts of sexual solicitation.

Last Friday, A 39 year-old 8th grade teacher was arrested for allegedly having a relationship with a 15 year-old, male.

"I want to emphasize that we have 170 other employees that are working extremely hard to make sure students have a great education and have a great experience while going to school," adds Roth.
