(STERLING, Kan.) — Her name's Nicolle Galyon, and if you don't recognize her yet you will. She's an up and coming country singer and songwriter.

In one of her songs she sings about a 'sterling sky.' She's singing about her hometown of Sterling where she was raised.

"Sterling has charm, sophistication, and class," Galyon said.

She's not shy about her love of Sterling. She sings and writes about her hometown in many of her songs.

"It's my way of surviving in the big city and filling the void while I'm 12 hours away," she said.

While some say Nicolle is one of the reasons Sterling is one of a kind, Nicole says it's the other way around.  She credits family, friends and teachers for her success.

"I wouldn't be where I am today without Sterling," she said.

That down to earth, hometown attitude is what people in Sterling say makes her so unique.

Nicolle is just one of many success stories out of Sterling and out of Sterling College, an important part of the community.

Windell Middlebrooks is known as the High Life guy and has been in countless commercials and TV shows. He learned how to do it all as a student of theater at Sterling College.
