(WICHITA, Kan.) — After committing to the University of Kansas in September, Wichita Heights’ Perry Ellis made it official by signing with the Jayhawks on Wednesday.
Ellis, a five-star recruit, chose Kansas over Kansas State, Wichita State and Kentucky. He is the first signing of the 2012 class for the Jayhawks.
“It just feels so great,” Ellis said following today’s signing. “All the hard work paid off. That’s the main thing. You just really have to work, and good things will happen."
Entering his senior season at Heights, Ellis is the three-time defending Player of the Year in Kansas and a member of a Heights program that has won the last three Class 6A State Championships.
Ellis was joined by teammates Gavin Thurman and Terrence Moore. Thurman, a transfer from Wichita Southeast, signed with Missouri State. Moore is heading to Emporia State.
