(CEDAR VALE, Kan.) — A Wichita man dies after an accident Monday evening in Chautauqua County.

The crash happened around 6:45 p.m. on U.S. 166 about a quarter mile west of Cedar Vale.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says 77-year-old Keith Eugene Thomas was driving his pick-up north on Marsh Road, when he failed to make a complete stop at the intersection with Highway 166. Investigators say Thomas struck a car driving on the highway.

Thomas was taken to a hospital in Sedan where he died. The KHP says he was not wearing a seat belt. A woman and child from the car were also taken to a Sedan hospital to be treated for injuries. The woman was wearing a seat belt and the child was in a car seat.
