(WICHITA, Kan.) — He walked into a Wichita emergency room with a gunshot wound to the leg.  Hours later, police linked him to six separate robberies.

Authorities say the man told them he had been mugged and shot. But when officers questioned him, they discovered he had accidentally shot himself.  Police now believe the man is responsible for robberies dating back to November 2.

Investigators say on that date he walked into the Two Brother BBQ restaurant wearing a ski mask, held a gun up to a clerk and demanded that she empty the cash register. He robbed Green Mobile, Sisha Hooka, two CD Trade Posts and Kay Wiggins Jewelery in a similar way. In each robbery he only took cash and no one was hurt.

Police say the man is also a convicted felon and shouldn't have been carrying a gun.  Besides the robbery charges, the man will likely also faces an additional charge for shooting himself since he is a convicted felon and was carrying a firearm.
