HAYS, Kansas — Diego Cabral earned 2011 Daktronics NCAA Division II men’s soccer All-America Third Team honors, announced Nov. 30. Cabral is the first All-American for the Tiger men’s soccer program, which completed their inaugural season in 2011 with a 11-5-2 record, including a 10-game unbeaten streak.
Cabral, a freshman midfielder from Asuncion, Paraguay, led the Tigers with 12 assists. Not only did Cabral lead the Tigers in assists, he led the South Central Region and ranked third nationally in Division II. Averaging .667 assists a game ranked Cabral second in Division II as well. Cabral totaled four multi-assist games and had his best performance in a 5-0 win over Winnipeg, where Cabral scored two goals and added two assists. He also finished with five goals on the season, including three game winners, which ranked him No. 2 on the Tiger team in goals. The Tigers were 9-0 when Cabral finished with points in a game. Cabral appeared in all 18 games for the Tigers, while making 15 starts.
The Tigers finished the 2011 season with an 11-5-2 record in their first season in school history. The season included a 10-game unbeaten streak and saw the Tigers receive votes in the NCAA Division II Top 25.
