(WINFIELD, Kan.) — A Winfield mother is arrested, her two kids in protective custody after police say she left them alone for several hours.
Officers were called to the home Sunday evening by neighbors who heard one of the children yelling from an upstairs window of the home in Saint James Court.
When police arrived, they found an unattended seven-year-old child. The officer contacted the child's mother by phone and found she'd been in Arkansas City and the child had been left alone for several hours.
Police took the seven-year-old and another small child into protective custody and arrested the mother on one count of Endangerment of a Child. Winfield police commended the two neighbors who called police to report the incident.
