#13 Kansas holds off Long Beach State 88-80

{LAWRENCE, Kan.} — The 13th ranked Kansas Jayhawks (6-2) were able to hold off a late surge from Long Beach State (4-4) to hold on and beat the 49'ers 88-80 at Allen Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.

Kansas forward Thomas Robinson and guard Connor Teahan were on fire in the first half, combining to score the Jayhawks' first 14 points of the game.  Robinson was a perfect 8 of 8 from the field in the first half and scored 18 points.  Teahan added 12 on 4 of 5 shooting from the floor.

The Jayhawks held a 51-39 lead at halftime but started getting sloppy in the second 20 minutes.  Overall Kansas turned the ball over 21 times and saw their one-time 19 point lead cut down to 4 in the final two minutes of the ball game.

Back to back three-point-plays by Tyshawn Taylor and Jeff Withey helped pad KU's lead as they were able to hang on for the victory.

Robinson finished with a season-high 26 points and 11 rebounds.  With 13 points and 13 rebounds Withey was just one block shy of a triple-double.  Tyshawn Taylor had 12 points for the 'Hawks but also turned the ball over 5 times.  Withey, Travis Releford and Elijah Johnson all had four turnovers a piece.

T.J. Robinson led the 49'ers with 19 points while Casper Ware and James Ennis each added 16. 

The Jayhawks have a few days off before hosting a huge matchup on Saturday when they host the number 2 team in the country, Ohio State.
