(WICHITA, Kan.) — The Wichita City Council is scheduled to consider two options for a water rate increase Tuesday. It will be the 4th rate hike since 2010.
One option would raise rates by 5.9% across the board. For the average resident, that would be a $2-8 increase each month, depending on how much water you use.
The other option is cost-based, so percentage increases would vary. Residents would face a smaller percentage increase than businesses that use more water. Under this plan, the average resident would see a $1-4 increase to their bill per month.
But businesses would pay at least 8% more, perhaps up to $3200 more per month for the larger users.
Eyewitness news reporter Anne Meyer will have more on this story on today’s newscasts and on KWCH.com.
