LAWRENCE, Kan. — Behind strong performances by Thomas Robinson and Kevin Young, KU gave Ohio State their first loss of the season, 78-67 at Allen Fieldhouse, Saturday.
The junior, Young, emerged with 14 points, six from beyond the arc. William Buford led Ohio State with 21 points.
KU (7-2) jumped out the gate early and took advantage of the Buckeye's absence of Sullinger. Robinson pounding the paint to lead 7-0 in the early goings.
Ohio State (8-1) used Buford to solidify the middle but the senior couldn't handle Robinson's presence.
Johnson kep KU hot from the outside, draining 5-7 from three-point range.
KU led 35-29 at halftime and kept the pressure up from there.
The Jayhawks are off for a week before playing Davidson at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Monday.
