If you've put off your holiday shopping until this weekend, the weather will certainly work out well for you. A nice warm up is in store as temperatures climb to the lower and middle 50s Saturday, then to the middle and upper-50s Sunday. Plenty of sunshine will be around Saturday with increasing clouds late in the day Sunday over southern parts of Kansas.
Those clouds will be out ahead of a significant storm system, which is still forecast to organize over the southern Rockies Sunday. It will then venture out into the Plains on Monday into Tuesday. Rain looks possible over southwestern Kansas by late Sunday night as the system approaches. On Monday, we can expect a rain/snow mix over the west and rain in the east. Given the current forecast track of the system, Wichita will likely see a changeover from rain to snow take place on Monday night. Snow will continue into the first half of Tuesday morning too. Accumulating snow looks more and more likely, especially in a corridor from southwest through central and northeast Kansas. However, the exact track this storm system will ultimately take is still up in the air. Please stay tuned as Storm Team 12 further refines the forecast over the weekend.
