WICHITA, Kan. — Despite being shorthanded for much of Friday night's affair with the Texas Brahmas (14-10-6), Wichita (19-8-1) got a two-goal outing from Matt Summers and held on for a 4-3 victory at INTRUST Bank Arena in front of 6,217. The win coupled with an Allen overtime loss moves Wichita into first place in the Berry Conference with 39 points.
Texas got on the board first at 4:24 of the first period when Adam Hogg caught a pass on the far side of the net and beat Wichita netminder Adam Russo to give the Brahmas a 1-0 lead. Just over a minute later, Matt Summers (8) answered for Wichita when he won a face-off and snapped it past Brahmas goalie Mark Guggenberger to tie the game at one. Alex Bourret, who was named to the All-Star team this past Wednesday, received 27 minutes in penalties after instigating a fight with Dan Nicholls right before the end of the first period. With Andrew Martens already out of the line-up down in Oklahoma City of the AHL, Bourret was lost for the rest of the game.
