6-year-old critically injured after accident in western Sedgwick County

(SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan.) — A six-year-old is critically hurt after a rollover accident in western Sedgwick County Saturday morning.

It happened just before 9:00 near 295th street west and 71st street south. When deputies arrived they found three people hurt.

Authorities say the 40-year-old Haysville man was going westbound on 71st street when for some reason he went into the south ditch and rolled into some trees.

A six-year-old in that car had to be air lifted to a Wichita hospital. The 40-year-old driver as well as a four-year-old also suffered injuries and were transported to a hospital.

The accident is still under investigation. Deputies say the driver told them he was trying to avoid a deer.
