WICHITA, Kan. — The Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League announced Thursday the signing of defenseman T.J. Miller. The second-year pro will be in uniform this weekend as Wichita travels to Rapid City, SD to take on the Rush.
Miller (6'4", 220-lbs) was a fourth round draft pick of the New Jersey Devils, selected #107 overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to going pro, the Placentia, CA native spent four seasons at Northern Michigan University of the CCHA, scoring 40 points (8g, 32a) and recorded 117 PIM in 134 games for the Wildcats. Last season, Miller was assigned to the Trenton Devils of the ECHL, where he appeared in 22 games.
At the beginning of the year, Miller was playing overseas in Italy with Meran/Merano before returning state-side. He was picked up by Rapid City at the beginning of December and recently waived on January 5th. The signing of Miller now gives Wichita six defenseman as Andrew Martens continues to play well with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL.
