Storm Team 12: Warmer Weekend

January 14, 2012|By Meteorologist Dean Jones | Storm Team 12

Sunny skies and relatively light winds today, will result in unseasonably warm temperatures across Kansas this afternoon.  Highs will be in the 50s statewide.  A cool night, tonight with clear skies.  Overnight lows dropping into the upper 20s and low 30s, really not to bad for mid-January.

Sunday looks even warmer, but the wind will be picking up.  Highs should top out in the low to mid-60s for most locations.  Normal afternoon highs in January range from the upper 30s to low 40s, so temperatures will be running some 15-20 degrees above normal.

Cooler weather will return to northern and western Kansas Monday as the next cold front arrives.  This system looks like it will remain dry and only usher in more seasonable temperatures as we head into Tuesday and Wednesday.

The cool down will be brief as we are expecting a return to the 50s by Thursday and Friday.
