(WICHITA, Kan.) — The Reno County Sheriff's office has now captured two suspects after searching for several hours Monday night.

Officers believe one of the suspects may have escaped from the Kansas Department of Corrections.

What started as a burglary call in Reno County carried into Sedgwick County with police searching for the two suspects for hours.

Reno County Sheriff, Randy Henderson, said that at 5:09 pm, Steven Schrock was working in a field in the area of Arlington Rd  and Victory Rd, just south of Haven.

Schrock observed two white males stealing a car owned by Randy Harder, the owner of the field. Schlock called Harder who called 911.

A Kansas Highway Patrol Officer spotted the vehicle around Arlington Rd and Worthington and a pursuit started and proceeded into Sedgwick County with officers involved from KHP, Sedgwick Co and Reno Co.

The subjects abandoned the stolen Suburban in the area of 37th and Tyler in Wichita. Officers surrounded the area and as of 8:15pm.

Henderson says guns were taken in the burglary and were not recovered in the vehicle.

Extra precautions were taken because a shotgun had been in the stolen suburban but is not accounted for.
