(WICHITA, Kan.) — Wichita police want to make sure you're buckling up, no matter what time it is. Starting tonight (Tuesday), officers with Wichita's Patrol West will enforce seat belt violations from 6:00 to 10:00 pm.
The additional enforcement is part of a year-long study and comes courtesy of a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Officers will also be on the lookout for other violations.
Studies have indicated that seat belt use goes down when it's dark outside because drivers assume officers can't see whether or not passengers are buckled up.
