Kansas held 15 point leads in both halves at Texas, but had to hold on to beat the Longhorns last weekend—prompting Head Coach Bill Self to call the win ‘our biggest of the season’. Huh? Clearly Self wanted to see how his team would handle a little adversity, especially in such a tough place to win. He had to have pleased with the results. The ‘Hawks defended well in the clutch and got good leadership from their stars, as both Tyshawn Taylor and Thomas Robinson made big plays when their team needed it. Kansas is a basketball team that continues to improve, who knows that kind of residuals they’ll draw from their ninth straight win last weekend.
Tonight they have their second straight quick turnaround on Big Monday, hosting Texas A&M-a matchup that looked a lot more enticing when the season tipped off in November. The Aggies were the pick along with KU to lead the Big 12, but –off to a 2-4 start—they are amongst the most disappointing teams in the country. The Jayhawks take a 16 game home winning streak into the game and have won nine in a row over all as they hunt an incredible eighth straight conference title. In Thomas Robinson KU boasts the only player in the Big 12 to be averaging a double-double(17.1 ppg/12.1 rpg) and Taylor has averaged 26 points in his last three starts.
