A powerful winter storm system will sweep into the Rockies Thursday then cruise toward Kansas Thursday night into Friday and Saturday. Clouds will roll in Thursday afternoon. The approaching storm will then bring rain and thunderstorms to our area overnight. Snow and blowing snow will return to western Kansas Friday with heavy snow expected at times.
Rain is likely for Wichita Friday but will change to snow in central Kansas Friday afternoon. Driving will be difficult Friday afternoon across western Kansas due to blowing and drifting snow.
