What's on the line for WSU, KU and K-State today

Wildcat senior Jamar Samuels continues to climb the career charts at KSU.  It surprised me to learn that  he’s 13th in school history in points scored and is just 137 points away from moving into the top ten.  The forward is also top ten all-time in  games played, free throws made and attempted, rebounds, steals and blocks.  Samuels is one of just  11 players in the programs history with at least 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

Oklahoma State at Kansas:

It’s interesting that KU head coach Bill Self says he doesn’t even give playing his alma mater a second thought now.   However, he’s only 8-7 all-time against Oklahoma State—including a 7-4 record at KU.  The Cowboys haven’t won in Lawrence in 15 games and they bring an undersized lineup into the Phog tomorrow.  A win for Kansas(and remember they’ve only lost at home 7 times in Self’s nine years there) and they would improve to 20-5 marking the 23rd straight season with at least twenty wins .

Center Jeff Withey is coming off his finest game as a collegian, scoring 25 points in the win at Baylor on Wednesday.  His outburst was particularly interesting after he was shutout four days earlier at Missouri.  Tyshawn Taylor continues to climb KU’s all-time charts.  The senior is 26th in scoring and is on a pace that could see him broach the top 13, he’s eighth in assists.  It looks as though Self won’t go any deeper than seven on his bench.  Six players are getting the majority of minutes, with Justin Wesley(at 11 min/gm) the seventh.  Lack of depth can hurt during the grind that is the regular season, but it’s not as much of an issue when you get into the NCAA’s when all the TV timeouts are extended to 2:30 minutes.
