Purse snatchers hitting Wichita Wal-Mart stores

February 15, 2012|by Kim Hynes | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

(WICHITA, Kan.) — Wichita police arrest a group of purse snatchers.  The group hit up to local Wal-Mart's Tuesday before being caught.

Police say the first incident happened in the 3100 block of south Seneca.  A man approached a 75-year-old woman and offered to help her with her grocery bags.  During that time, her wallet was exposed inside her purse. The man reached in, grabbed it and ran off.  He got into a car driven by someone else and left the scene.

About an hour later, the same thing happened at 6110 west Kellogg.  Police took security footage from both Wal-Mart stores to get a description of the car involved. They later located it in the 500 block of west MacArthur and made the arrests.
