Local Girl Scouts collecting personal flotation devices

February 23, 2012|By Rebecca White | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

(WICHITA, Kan.) — A local Girl Scout Troop is collecting personal flotation devices (PFD) but the girl's are struggling to meet their goal of 80 items.

Project Advisor Jennifer Moore says the drop boxes around town haven’t brought in the number of items they had hoped. She says they have collected about 20 PFD’s so far.

Moore says donors like Cargill and other local businesses have given money to help the troop purchase PFD’s. The devices will be used by swimmers at Girl Scout summer camp.

If you would like to donate a PFD to the Girl Scouts, you can drop the items at the following locations:

Wichita Police Substations

Patrol West: 661 N Elder

Patrol East: 350 S Edgemoor

Patrol North: 3015 N 21st St

Kansas Wildlife and Park Department

Great Plains Nature Center
