Wichita police confront suspected car thief

February 27, 2012|By John Boyd | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

(WICHITA, Kan.) — Wichita police almost recover a stolen car late Sunday afternoon.

Officers were called to a car wash in the 600 block of N. Webb Road Sunday after 911 got a tip from someone who noticed a car that was reportedly stolen there.

Two officers went to the car wash, they saw the car, and one of the officers blocked the front of the stall, but the suspect saw officers and jumped into the car and began to back out, nearly striking the officer.

Police saw a woman holding an infant inside the car, so officers didn't give chase to protect the safety of the infant.
